The New Jersey Osteopathic Education Foundation (NJOEF) was
established in 1965 with the specific purpose of: "receiving
donations in order to provide the means of advancing osteopathic
education."
OUR
OBJECTIVES
NJOEF's specific objectives are:
- providing for and maintaining within
the limits of the funds to do so, the granting of scholarships
to New Jersey residents who have been accepted to osteopathic
medical colleges; and
- supporting predoctoral, postdoctoral
and continuing osteopathic medical education;
- supporting the University of Medicine
and Dentistry of New Jersey - School of Osteopathic Medicine
and when possible, of other osteopathic medical colleges;
- improving the practice of osteopathic
medicine, enhancing public health education and raising
the standards of health care of the people of the State
of New Jersey.
SCHOLARSHIP
PROGRAM
NJOEF offers scholarships to New Jersey residents who will
be entering their first year of study at a college of osteopathic
medicine. Since its inception in 1969, the NJOEF Scholarship
Program has awarded 135 scholarships totaling in excess of
$500,000.
Approximately
five scholarships are awarded each year. Each scholarship
recipient must agree to become a member of the New Jersey
Association of Osteopathic Physicians and Surgeons, and the
American Osteopathic Association. Selections are based on
the following criteria:
- Undergraduate academic achievement.
Applicants should have a B average or a 3.0 grade point
average or better on a 4.0 scale and be in the upper 25%
in class standing.
- Financial need.
- Motivation
- Professional promise
as an osteopathic physician
