The Tropicana Atlantic City played host to the 2007 Atlantic Regional Osteopathic Convention (AROC) April 25–28. D.O.s, M.D.s, physician assistants and advance practice nurses from across the state and around the country gathered for personal and professional enrichment, continuing medical education, a sold-out exhibit hall experience, and quality time with old friends and new.

The AROC 2007 educational program offered attendees 33.5 AOA category 1-A and 30.5 Prescribed AAFP CME credits. CME session blocks included Innovations in Surgical Treatment Options, Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine, Culturally Competent Medicine, Neurology, Nutrition and Men's Health, Florida Re-licensure Requirements and Pennsylvania Risk Management Requirements. AROC 2007 also offered a career fair for young physicians, a compelling keynote address by former Commissioner of the United States Food and Drug Administration David Kessler, M.D., and greetings by New Jersey Commissioner of Health and Senior Services Fred Jacobs, M.D. Among other speaker highlights were sessions with Matthew Scott, the world's first successful hand transplant recipient and Jeffrey Levine, M.D., family physician and associate professor at UMDNJ-Robert Wood Johnson Medical School who shed 183 pounds as a contestant on NBC's reality show "The Biggest Loser."

The always-popular Saturday "Risk Management & Business of Medicine" lecture series featured the latest information in business and practice management. Sessions of interest included a 2007 Medicare Update, Risk Management, Physicians Rights Under New Jersey Recoupment/ Reimbursement Law, Quality & Pay for Performance, and Billing and Coding Issues.

NJAOPS' 106th Anniversary Reception and Banquet was held Friday, April 27. In addition to dinner, dancing, and live entertainment, the evening included an inaugural address by newly elected NJAOPS President Elliot Ames, D.O. NJAOPS also honored Stephen Papish, D.O., as its 2007 Physician of the Year, recognizing him as a gifted physician and patient advocate.

The sold-out AROC exhibit hall was located in the Tropicana's Grand Exhibition Center and featured 110 exhibits. Click here for a comprehensive listing of exhibitors who were present in the hall.
