This
issue of The Journal provides physicians with
an update on the status of Lyme Disease in New Jersey,
which according to the CDC has the third highest incident
rate by population in the county. Infectious disease
specialists Glenn Tillotson, Ph.D.; Chris Kielbasa,
D.O.; and Jeffrey Lederman, D.O., offer current treatment
and prevention protocols. They also provide a quick
reference to proper tick removal procedures that can
be distributed to patients as well as access to the
state's Lyme Disease Case Investigation form for reporting
cases to the Department of Health and Senior Services.
In an effort to encourage out-of-the-box thinking in
terms of diagnosis of vector-born illness, a case study
on West Nile Virus is also presented.
