ARTICLE
SUBMISSIONS
The
Journal welcomes the submission
of articles and papers in the following categories:
- Original
Contribution—Documentation
of original clinical or applied research.
- Brief
Reports—Substantive, but brief,
documentation of clinical information, pilot investigation,
theoretical concepts, clinical "pearls,"
etc.
- Case
Reports—Unusual clinical presentations
with newly recognized or rarely reported features.
- Clinical
Practice—Articles that have
practical application for both general practitioners
and specialists and present an expert critical viewpoint.
- Medical
Education—Articles on undergraduate
and graduate osteopathic medical education.
- Special
Communications—Informed commentary
and hypotheses on medical scientific topics, including
controversial issues.
- Review
Articles—Detailed, critical
surveys and meta-analyses of published research relevant
to clinical problems.
Contributions
are accepted from osteopathic physicians, faculty members
in osteopathic medical colleges, guest lecturers at
osteopathic medical meetings, and others when consistent
with the mission of The Journal. Trainee papers
must include the trainer as an author. The co-authorship
implies review and additional material from the experience
of the senior physician.
Letters
to the Editor
The Journal
encourages your feedback and insight. Your comments
on recently published articles and your thoughts and
opinions on hot clinical topics are welcome and appreciated.

Honors
and Awards
If
you are an NJAOPS member, we would like to share your
recent accomplishments with your colleagues via
The Journal's "NJAOPS News." If within
the last six months you received an honor, award, or
accolade for your work in osteopathic medicine, or if
you successfully completed a noteworthy research project
in osteopathic medicine, let us know. Click
here to submit a brief description of your accomplishment
(limit 100 words).
EDITORIAL
REVIEW
All
papers and articles received for consideration for inclusion
in The Journal are reviewed by The Journal's
editorial staff. Notification of acceptance or rejection
usually is given within three months of acknowledgment
of receipt; publication follows as soon as possible
thereafter, depending on the current production schedule.
The
Journal's editorial staff reserves the right to
edit any article submitted for length and content.
SUBMISSION
REQUIREMENTS
- All
articles and papers must be submitted via e-mail to
the Managing Editor as Microsoft Word documents. Faxed
or printed manuscripts cannot be accepted.

Submissions
should be double-spaced with pages consecutively numbered.
- References
are required for all material derived from the work
of others. Cite all references in numerical order
in the text. If there are references used as general
source material, but from which no specific information
was taken, list them in alphabetical order following
the numbered references.
- All
tables and figures should be numbered.
- You
must obtain written permission from the publisher
and author to use previously published illustrations/tables,
and submit these letters with the manuscript.
- Digital
photos and graphic images submitted with articles
should be .jpg, .bmp, .gif file formats and must be
at least 300 dpi in quality for adequate print production.
Photos must be original to the author or you must
provide proof of permission to publish.
- You
must obtain written permission from patients to use
their photos if there is a possibility that they might
be identified. In the case of children, permission
must be obtained from a parent or guardian.
- Include
a caption for each figure or photo.
- Include
a brief, four sentence author's bio at the end of
the article, after the bibliography or references.
